From August 2007
onwards -
this is a new UK law for all online merchant
accounts - the process has been in action
since June and we are forced to comply
and migrate to this upgrade in order to further
protect you and us from internet fraud.
YOU NOW HAVE TO
- IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO - ENSURE
YOUR CARD IS REGISTERED WITH THE BANK THAT
ISSUED THE CARD TO YOU AS YOUR IDENTITY
IS NOW REQUIRED AS PART OF THE PURCHASING
PROCESS...this
is part of the NEW online CHIP and PIN protection.
Which cards does
the scheme apply to?
This will affect the transaction process
for all customers that are paying with any
Visa, Visa
Delta, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro
or Switch (soon to be domestic Maestro)
cards.
The scheme does not apply to American Express,
Diners and JCB Cards.

As part of this
upgrade we will not
be able to accept International Maestro
cardsunless we
have '3D Secure' enabled on our account/s.
YOU WILL HAVE TO IDENTIFY YOURSELF AS
THE CARD OWNER AS PART OF THE PROCESS.
What is 3D Secure?
3D Secure is the technology behind Verified
by Visa (VbV) and MasterCard SecureCode
(MSC), the latest fraud prevention initiatives
launched by the major card schemes as
a more secure method for authenticating
the cardholder at the time of the transaction.
The scheme
is set up as an online alternative to
Chip and PIN,
where the customer is required to enter
a unique password chosen by the shopper
before the transaction process can be
completed.
The card schemes
may extend this to other card types in
the future, particularly domestic Maestro
cards.
As a customer
you can be assured that all your transactions
and purchases are secure.
However, to further protect your card
you may - as part of the process of purchasing
- have to register your card with the
bank who issued you your card - this is
part of the verification/ID process...you
may opt out of registering your card with
your card issuing bank BUT you may have
a transaction declined due to the secure
measures in place to verify WHO
YOU ARE.
THIS MAY RESULT IN YOUR ORDER NOT BEING
PROCESSED
