DECORATIVE VINYL SHEETS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Our pre-prepared sheets of decorative vinyl sheets are supplied in a slightly different format from all of our standard decorative products, vinyls and films.

You will find when unpacking that the product consists of a printed protective backing material and the vinyl itself which is in turn protected by an application tape (similar to masking tape).

You will need to follow the normal cleaning procedures as shown for standard vinyl and then trim your decorative product in the same fashion ensuring that you cut through all three layers of material.

When you come to apply the product remove the printed backing paper only.This will leave the vinyl and the application tape as the material to be applied to the glass etc.

try to use as little water as possible as this will aid a later process in the application.

Use more care when squeegeeing onto the application tape as this will rip under too much pressure.

Continue using the standard vinyl instructions, treating your vinyl and application tape as if it were one material.

When you have finished trimming and satisfied that you have forced as much water as possible from between the vinyl and glass as possible you will need to leave the product alone for at least 4 hours (overnight is even better).

You will have to wait until the adhesion between the glass and the vinyl is greater than the adhesion between the vinyl and the application tape. This process can be speeded up slightly by drying the application tape with a hairdryer but exercise caution as the longer you leave the application tape the easier it will be to remove.

When you are certain that the tape is totally dry and that the water from between the vinyl and glass has evaporated begin to remove the application tape from one corner.

Try pulling gently and evenly keeping the removed tape as flat to the vinyl as possible. If you find that the vinyl is starting to peel away as well, leave to dry for a further period of time before repeating this process.

When you have removed all of the application tape smooth over your vinyl carefully ensuring that there are no bubbles (See solid vinyls for info on removing bubbles and creases).

You may now, if you wish remove certain elements of the vinyl to create your own unique design.
